Orange County forced to shut family assistance application portal again
County officials said they received 50,000 applications this morning in less than two hours for a $1,000 share of federal CARES Act funding. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings had expressed frustration Monday at the short-lived roll out of the assistance program, which the county created with coronavirus-relief funds to help individuals and families hurt economically by mandated restrictions on many businesses imposed to slow the spread of the highly contagious virus.
