$17.4M Universal Orlando tax break would be closed under new Eskamani bill

State Rep. Anna Eskamani introduced a bill Wednesday to repeal Florida’s “Urban High-Crime Area Job Tax Credit Program,” which was initially put in place more than two decades ago to help places like Orlando’s majority Black neighborhood Parramore. But instead, a whopping half of the entire $34.8 million in tax breaks given out as part of the program have gone to Universal Orlando, a resort owned by Comcast, one of the world’s biggest corporations, and the resort’s hotels.
