Roughly 3,900 workers who build the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair will go on temporary layoff starting Monday. A GM spokesman said the automaker’s U.S. plants had not been affected by the shortage but the company is watching the situation closely.
There’s one less spacecraft attached to the International Space Station as the supply module Cygnus departed, but it won’t go burn itself up right away. It still has a job to do involving fire.

Six workers also were seriously injured at the plant, which makes cathode precursors for the parent company’s lithium-ion batteries.
