Kennedy Space Center gets first woman director, Janet Petro, after Bob Cabana promoted to NASA
When Janet Petro was only a little girl, her dad got a job at the burgeoning Kennedy Space Center working on NASA’s Mercury and Gemini programs. She wouldn’t know it then but those missions would pave the way for America’s moon landing, and that cross-country move from Michigan to Brevard County, Florida, would facilitate Petro’s own role in space history.
