Florida Power & Light and its parent company NextEra Energy has announced plans to eliminate carbon emissions by 2045 by a phased-in approach to replace fossil fuel-driven power generation with a mix of wind, solar, battery storage, nuclear, green hydrogen and other renewable sources. Critics doubt the utility can pull it off without increasing customer bills.
