Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is latest Orlando chain to land new CEO

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has appointed a new CEO to run the chain of 116 shops, the latest Orlando-based company to have a new face in charge.

Michael Keller was revealed as Jeremiah’s new CEO and president in a news release Tuesday. Keller’s experience includes working as CEO and president of Pearson Candy Company as well as chief marketing officer of International Dairy Queen, the release said.

“Jeremiah’s has grown at an incredible pace,” said Jeremy Litwack, founder of privately held Jeremiah’s, in the release. “After 27 years and more than 100 locations opening and operating, I feel that now is the time to pivot my focus, opening the door for new leadership with the skillset and background necessary to take our brand to the next level.”

Litwack expects to serve as a “brand ambassador” going forward.

Jeremiah’s was founded in 1996 and started franchising in 2019. It has shops in Florida, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee, Alabama and Texas.

‘With a record number of stores opened in 2022, and even more in store for 2023, I am confident that Jeremiah’s growth will continue, and we are proactively positioning the brand and building the necessary infrastructure to support both our current and future franchisees,” Keller said in the release.

This is just the latest change up in leadership at top Orlando dining companies.

Gene Lee, CEO of Olive Garden-owner Darden Restaurants, retired last year and was replaced at the Orlando company by longtime executive and staffer Rick Cardenas. It was also recently revealed Lee will retire as chairman of Darden’s board.

At Red Lobster, Kelli Valade left the top job last year after just eight months and was quickly hired as CEO and president of South Carolina-based Denny’s. She had replaced Kim Lopdrup at Orlando-based Red Lobster. Lopdrup retired after 14 years leading the seafood chain.

Maitland-based Tijuana Flats in October hired Joe Christina for its top job, replacing Brian Wright, who has been hired to run Bar Louie. Christina is the former CEO of Church’s Texas Chicken.
