Move your cash to higher-yielding accounts

Move your cash to higher-yielding accounts

Q: What should I be doing with cash in my accounts? – N.C., Orlando

A: As interest rates increase, we are starting to see much better yields in money market funds, high-yield savings accounts and CDs. Rather than keeping large balances in a checking account, consider moving some of it to a money market fund or high-yield savings account. – Colby Winslow

Q:  I have four mutual fund accounts with the same company, and they are telling me I should move them into one brokerage account.  Is this a good idea?  – F.S., Orlando

A:  Doing so would possibly make it easier for you to keep up with them.  Be sure to ask about any costs associated with the brokerage account.  Otherwise, I think it makes sense to help simplify your investments. – Chris Toadvine
