Halloween Horror Nights: ‘The Last of Us’ game will have 2023 house

Halloween Horror Nights: ‘The Last of Us’ game will have 2023 house

“The Last of Us” video game will be brought to life as a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights this year, Universal Orlando announced Thursday.

The game, introduced a decade ago by Naughty Dog and PlayStation, follows the characters of Joel and Ellie, who must work their way through a world where a fungal virus turns humans into a group known as the Infected.

The house, Universal says, will include scenes from the Pittsburgh Quarantine Zone, the Hotel Grand and a series of “dark and dank tunnels.”

“As a massive fan – and frequent attendee – of Halloween Horror Nights, we are honored to have ‘The Last of Us’ included in this year’s lineup,” Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said in a news release.  “It has been an incredible thrill for us at Naughty Dog to collaborate with Universal, bringing the world of the game to life, focusing on even the tiniest details that our fans know so well.”

A television adaptation of the game, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, debuted on HBO and HBO Max in January. read more

Disney holidays: New Jollywood Nights event, Very Merry Christmas Party dates set

Walt Disney World is adding another holiday party to its theme park lineup: Disney Jollywood Nights debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Nov. 11.  The resort also has set the dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and announced other festivities, new and returning.

The new Hollywood Studios after-hours, extra-ticket event will be held 10 select evenings, winding up Dec. 20.  It will include a live holiday special featuring Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy at Theater of the Stars, a singalong at Hyperion Theater and a “lively Latin Street Fair,” according to the official Disney Parks Blog. Joining the Muppet duo will be Tiana, Belle, Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse.

In addition, there will be limited-capacity events within the event at Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant (a jazz lounge) and the Hollywood Tower Hotel Courtyard (“an other-worldly soiree,” Disney says).

Other Jollywood features will be character meet-and-greets with holiday props, including Powerline Max and Phineas and Ferb at Echo Lake. (Mickey and other icons will be stationed at Animation Courtyard). read more

Federal I bonds carry $10,000 annual limit

Federal I bonds carry $10,000 annual limit

Q:  I am interested in federal I bonds. Are there any limits?  — R.S., DeLand

A:  There is no limit to how much a person or entity can own, but there is a limit to how much can be bought in a calendar year.  The limit for electronic I bonds is $10,000. The limits are tied to the Social Security number of the first person named or, if it is an entity, then by the SSN or Employee Identification Number (EIN).  It’s possible to purchase up to the limits for each if the same SSN is used by an individual and an entity. – Casandra Garrett

Q:  I received $20,000 from a car accident settlement last month, and I am not sure how to invest it. How can I find a good financial planner? – T.B., Clermont

A:  Go to www.plannersearch.org to search for a Certified Financial Planner professional in your area.  A CFP can provide you with guidance on how to invest these funds.  He or she can also help you with insurance, estate planning, taxes, retirement cash flow, debt management, and education funding. — Charlie Fitzgerald III read more
