Central Florida mall restaurants make shutdown list for 2nd consecutive week

Restaurants from a Central Florida mall re-enter the list of nine shutdowns during the week of Sept. 10-16, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Orange County

Several restaurants from the West Oaks Mall, located at 9401 W. Colonial Dr, are still on the list of shutdowns this week. Tandoori Hut #1 at #310, Paulino Paradise at Unit 256 and New Taste Island Restaurant at #308 made the list for the second consecutive week.

Tandoori Hut received their shutdown orders on Sept. 8. They did not comply with the emergency order on Sept. 8 or 9. They received a callback time extension on Sept. 10.

After that, the restaurant did not have any violations listed.

Paulino Paradise initially shut down on Sept. 8 with 13 violations. They didn’t comply with the emergency order on Sept. 9 and received a callback extension on Sept. 10.

On Sept. 10, inspectors found six violations, five of which were a high priority. Those violations included food not cooled within the appropriate time period, food stored in ice used for drinks, a stop sale on food due to adulteration and ready-to-eat food prepared and held for more than 24 hours but not marked as such.

On Sept. 11, the restaurant complied with the call back and met inspection standards after officials issued a time extension on two high-priority violations.

New Taste Island Restaurant initially closed on Sept. 8 and was still closed for not complying with the call back on Sept. 19.

On Sept. 10, inspectors issued a time extension for the lone violation found. It was labeled a high priority due to live roaches and 50-75 eggs found around the sink.

Saigon Noodle And Grill at 2405 E. Washington St. in Orlando shut down on Sept. 11. Inspectors found 14 violations, two of which were a high priority for rodent activity and food held at the wrong temperatures.

A second inspection the same day found seven violations. Officials issued a time extension on the lone high-priority violation for food held at the wrong temperatures.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Chuy’s at 8123 International Dr. in Orlando shut down Sept. 13. Inspectors found 18 violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent excrement and activity, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Sept. 14. They found six violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Black Rock Bar & Grill at 8965 Conroy Windermere Road in Orlando shut down on Sept. 15. Inspectors found 24 violations, two of which were a high priority for rodent activity and a stop-sale on a dented can of cheese sauce.

A second inspection on Sept. 16 found 10 violations, but none were a high priority.

A follow-up inspection is required.

Seminole County

Corwin’s Personal Chef And Catering Services at 1255 Belle Ave. Unit 103 in Winter Springs shut down on Sept. 14. Inspectors found 10 violations, four of which were a high priority.

Those violations included chew marks on a case of oil stored under the shelf, a spray on the disk sink being lower than the flood rim of the sink, a stop-sale on food for not being in sound condition and rodent activity.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Sept. 15 and found five violations. They issued a time extension for the sanitizer at the dish machine not being the appropriate strength.

A second visit on the 15th found three violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

McDonald’s at 1200 State Road 434 in Winter Springs shut down on Sept. 15. Inspectors found 11 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity, a missing vacuum breaker and a stop-sale on food due to temperature abuse.

Inspectors conducted a second inspection the same day. They found only one violation.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Volusia County

Fletcher’s Irish Pub And Brewery at 745 Ridgewood Ave. in Holly Hill shut down on Sept. 13. Inspectors found 11 violations, three of which were a high priority.

Those violations included roach activity, rodent activity and raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food.

A second inspection the same day found one violation.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 36.

Volusia had 24, Brevard had 17, Lake had nine, Osceola had seven and Seminole had 16. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
