Country clubs among 5 Central Florida restaurants shut down last week
Five restaurants in Central Florida shut down following health inspections the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 2, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Orange
Forest Lake Golf Club at 10521 Clarcona Ocoee Road in Ocoee shut down on Oct. 29. Inspectors found 10 violations, one of which was a high priority for rodent activity. A second inspection the same day had nine inspections, but none was a high priority. The restaurant requires a follow-up inspection but was not an immediate threat to the public.
Seminole
Timacuan Club at 550 Timacuan Blvd. in Lake Mary shut down on Oct. 31. Inspectors found 18 violations, five of which were a high priority. Those violations include roach activity, roach excrement, rodent activity, a stop-sale on food due to temperature abuse and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection occurred on Nov. 1. There were eight violations but none was a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Heathrow Country Club at 1200 Bridgewater Drive in Heathrow shut down on Nov. 1. Inspectors found 13 violations, five of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity, a stop-sale on food due to its lack of wholesome condition and a missing vacuum breaker. A second inspection the same day found six violations. One violation was a high priority for the missing vacuum breaker but the restaurant received a time extension. A follow-up inspection is required but there was no immediate threat to the public.
Volusia
Touch Of Italy Inc. at 4198 S. Atlantic Ave. in New Smyrna Beach shut down on Oct. 30 after two previous visits that required follow-up inspections. Although it remained open on the first visit on Oct. 29, inspectors found 16 violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included flying insects, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. They were corrected on site, but inspectors returned the following day.
Two more inspections then happened on Oct. 30. On the first inspection, there were two violations. One of those violations was a high priority for roach activity, again corrected on site, but requiring a followup inspection. On the second inspection, there were 10 violations. Two violations were a high priority for flying insects and roach activity, and the establishment was shut down, with another follow-up inspection required.
There were two more inspections on Oct. 31. On the first, inspectors found two violations, one of which was a violation for roach activity. The restaurant closed again. On the final inspection, there were no violations. The restaurant complied with the emergency order.
Brevard
Next Level Arcade at 600 N. Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island shut down on Oct. 29. Inspectors found nine violations, three of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity, rodent rub marks on the walls and a missing vacuum breaker. A second inspection found one violation that wasn’t a high priority. A follow-up inspection is required but there’s no immediate threat to the public.
Complaints and warnings
Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 36.
Volusia had 24, Brevard had 18, Seminole had 18, Lake had seven and Osceola had five.
