Florida-bound cruise ship Celebrity Xcel drops Eden for ‘The Bazaar’

The avant-garde and sometimes ethereal space Eden found on the first five Edge-class ships from Celebrity Cruises is making way for a space designed to celebrate the world’s festivals.

Called The Bazaar, the multi-deck space will debut on board the Florida-bound Celebrity Xcel this year taking over the similarly-designed area known as Eden found at the aft of its sister ships.

While Eden focused on greenery amid its design, explored unique flavors in both its bar and dining venues and delved into fantastical celebrations of Earth through its aerialist and modern dance performances, The Bazaar looks to offer up authentic food and entertainment based on the destinations where the ship is visiting.

Cruisers could expect a venue that can shift from Bahamian to Caribbean to Mexican inspirations for its debut sailing season with each voyage looking to change up four times during weeklong sailings.

“The Bazaar is a truly one-of-a-kind space designed to seamlessly blend ship and shore and transform the way guests experience destinations,” said Celebrity Cruises President Laura Hodges Bethge in a press release. “Celebrity Xcel intentionally extends the destination experience onboard through a continued authentic offering between ports of call, allowing guests to take the destination with them.”

What’s planned are both food and entertainment shifts amid a themed market with artisan products and hands-on crafts, cooking and dancing classes, pop-up entertainment, local musicians, a festival party celebration and alternating cuisine and drinks at its open-kitchen concept restaurant Mosaic and quick-service venue Spice.

With an initial season sailing from Port Everglades, the four festivals will be tied to its Caribbean itineraries, which will visit places like the Bahamas, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. In summer 2026, the ship will head to Europe and tap into Mediterranean celebrations.

Among unique offerings for the Caribbean sailings would be activities like rum and chocolate pairings, hot sauce tasting and basket weaving demonstrations. Example vendors include those selling Caribbean masks, traditional Mexican leather hats or embroidery services.

Mosaic will also offer a global Chef’s Table experience with staff developing childhood favorite dishes from their native cuisine representing all continents. The venue also offers Chef’s Studio at Mosaic, the first time Celebrity has offered a destination-inspired cooking school.

For quick-service Spice located on the edge of the ship with floor-to-ceiling windows, expect rotating destination-inspire small bites.

The ship begins service Nov. 18 sailing from Fort Lauderdale on alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings. Each of the previous four ships in the class have made Port Everglades their home during their debut seasons with Celebrity Edge arriving in 2018, Apex in 2019, Beyond in 2022 and Ascent in 2024.

All of Celebrity’s Edge-class ships have a similar basic design including the Magic Carpet — an exterior elevator platform that acts primarily as an innovative way for passengers to disembark and reboard the ship when it tenders at ports of call, but also doubles as an entertainment and dining venue.

The ship also feature the popular Infinite Verandah staterooms in which the balcony is part of the cabin.
