Attractions elsewhere: Fan Fest, Skywalker sighting, Peppa Pig part 2

Attractions elsewhere: Fan Fest, Skywalker sighting, Peppa Pig part 2

Central Floridians do fancy ourselves as the center of the theme park universe. Yet there’s related activity outside the 407 area code that might merit attention, vacation or initiation of a petition on change.org.

Here are five to-dos that are coming up elsewhere.

First Fan Fest

Universal Studios Hollywood is introducing an after-hours event called Universal Fan Fest Nights with activities tied to “Back to the Future,” “Star Trek,” Wizarding World of Harry Potter, its Super Nintendo World, Dungeons & Dragons, “One Piece” anime and more.

Aside from scattered character interactions with Yoshi, Niffler and others, visitors go back in time for “Future” activities such as the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and the Clock Tower lightning strike. Then they are transported to the year 2043 in a walk-through “Trek” experience that includes the Starship Enterprise bridge and an interstellar danger.

It will be held on 12 evenings between April 25 and May 18. There are several ticket options and add-ons, but pricing for a single night ranges between $74 and $84.

The Skywalker skinny

Disney’s West Coast version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is celebrating Season of the Force from March 28 through May 11, and that includes the “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” projection show seen on the spires. And now the word is that Luke Skywalker will be walking the streets of Batuu among the crowds.

There’s also Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, a separately ticketed event that incorporates a gathering of the resistance with Rey, lightsaber instructions and a costume cavalcade of visitors in cosmic garb going down Main Street. The event is seven select nights between April 8 and May 6; tickets are $169-$189, depending on date.

Packed for Paris

Disney100: The Exhibition,” a collection of art, memorabilia, costumes and props, is heading to France for a 178-day stay at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles starting April 10. Together they tell the century-in-the-making history of the company.

The displays are currently in Seoul, South Korea, having made stops in five other cities in the U.S. and Europe over the past two years.

What you’d see: Nine themed galleries, a collection of 250 assets from the Disney archives, stretching from 1937’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to 2021’s “Encanto.”

Clubhouse cluster

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is introducing an exhibit based on “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” the Disney Jr. series. Its story revolves around a surprise birthday party for Pluto, and activities include Back and Decorate With Minnie and Grill and Play With Goofy.

Not that there are costumed characters there. Use your imagination. Also remember this is an animated series, not the live-action “MMC” that introduced the world to Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and company.

(Sidenote: “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+” debuts in August.)

Park 2

The world’s second-ever Peppa Pig Theme Park opens near Dallas on March 1. The first one was opened in Winter Haven, next to Legoland Florida, in 2022.

There’s notable overlap between the two attractions, particularly with rides such as Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster, Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride and Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Adventure. Both also feature Muddy Puddles Splash Pad, although there’s not really any mud.

In other Dallas-Fort Worth attractions news, vertical construction has begun on Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas. The smaller-scale theme park will include a 300-room hotel. It’s expected to open in 2026.
