Unemployed still blocked and frustrated after upgrades to jobless claims system
Florida’s overwhelmed unemployment claims system returned to service Monday after the Department of Economic Opportunity shut it down over the weekend to fix a wide array of problems arising from an unprecedented number of claims triggered by government shutdowns driven by the COVID-19 crisis. But even as Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke Monday of improvements, newly furloughed applicants still found they were locked out or deemed ineligible for benefits.
