DALLAS — Dealers and top executives gathered here Thursday for the Automotive News Retail Forum ahead of the 2023 NADA Show. The discussions focused on solutions to the industry’s pressing issues such as the new EV tax credits and FTC regulations.

Although Toyota leads when it comes to the sheer volume of cars it produces — expected to come in at 9.2 million units for the fiscal year that ends in March — it lags in the shift to electrification, a pivot spearheaded by Tesla.

The availability of a credit that carries fewer eligibility restrictions for leasing than for buying could help consumers now, panelists said Thursday at Automotive News Retail Forum: NADA.

Hyundai will take another step in its experimental vehicle-marketing relationship with Amazon this year to see if the online retailer can play a bigger role in sales.
