Popular Winter Park restaurant shut down temporarily after health inspection

Popular Italian restaurant Prato on Winter Park’s Park Avenue was shut down for one day after inspectors found rodent activity and flying insects on site this week.

The venue at 124 N. Park Ave. shut down on Tuesday after health inspectors found eight violations, two of which were high priorities.

Those violations included 18 flying insects in a drain underneath the sink at a bar station and rodent activity. Inspectors also found eight rodent droppings on the floor underneath three compartment sinks at the bar.

A second inspection occurred on Wednesday during which inspectors found two violations, but neither was a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards on the visit.

Prato is one of Central Florida’s most acclaimed Italian restaurants, having been Michelin-recommended and finding a place on a number of “Best of” Florida restaurant lists.

The restaurant posted a message on its Instagram from Scott Bowman, president of Park Lights Hospitality, the management group that runs Prato. read more

I set up our very first meeting with a certified financial planner, and learned a lot from the experience. If you’re curious about what it’s like to talk to an advisor, maybe you’ll learn something, too. read more
