Mayes said the app deceives customers about the quality of its low-cost products and collects what she described as a shocking amount of sensitive data without the consent of users, including GPS locations and a list of other apps on users’ phones.

According to the lawsuit, prosecutors are concerned about Temu being subject to laws in China that require Chinese companies to hand over data requested by the government, and that its code is designed to evade security reviews. read more

A look at the Thanksgiving shopping weekend and what’s next

A look at the Thanksgiving shopping weekend and what’s next

By ANNE D’INNOCENZIO, Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — The nation’s shoppers may feel gloomy about the economy, but they certainly were in the mood to shop over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend that wrapped up on Cyber Monday.

As Wall Street analysts and retailers sift through the data from the weekend — the unofficial start to the season and a good barometer of shoppers’ financial health and the strength of the economy — the figures show that shoppers went online and in stores to scour for deals on everything from TVs to clothing. But all that economic uncertainty did affect spending. Shoppers were very focused and selective, some malls reported.

Of course, the weekend looks a lot different from 15 years ago, when shoppers camped out in the wee hours of the morning and fought in store aisles for doorbusters like TVs. Shoppers are still heading to stores, but the biggest growth is online, which now accounts for 30% of total holiday sales. That’s up from 15% in 2012, according to the National Retail Federation, the nation’s largest retail trade group. read more

It’s true: Bluey coming to Disney World

It’s true: Bluey coming to Disney World

Bluey, the animated Australian sensation, is finding a home at Walt Disney World. The character will be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park starting in the summer of 2026, the company announced Tuesday.

Bluey, a Blue Heeler puppy, and her sister Bingo will be a part of DAK’s Conservation Station, the area reached via the Wildlife Express train. Visitors will play and dance with the characters there, and play games from the “Bluey” TV show with “a fun animal twist,” Disney says.

There will also be opportunities to encounter animals from Australia as part of the experience.

In addition, the characters will be involved in a stage experience at Disneyland in California. That park’s Fantasyland Theatre will be turned into Bluey’s school for her “best day ever.” The Disneyland Bluey experiences kick in on March 22.

Also in 2026, Bluey and Bingo, aimed at the preschooler audience, will be part of select cruises aboard the Disney Cruise Line, including the Disney Dream and Disney Wish ships. There will be a “Wakey Wakey” morning celebration as well as a cool-down evening round of Bluey and Bingo’s Pyjama Bash. Both ships sail from Florida ports, including Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. read more

Port Canaveral edges Miami for busiest cruise port in the world

Port Canaveral edges Miami for busiest cruise port in the world

Port Canaveral has earned the title of world’s busiest cruise port for only the second time in its history.

The distinction became clear Tuesday because PortMiami, which traditionally has held that title, reported its passenger movements for fiscal 2025, falling short of Port Canaveral’s previously disclosed totals.

For the record: PortMiami had 8,564,225 cruise passengers get on or off a ship from Oct. 1, 2024-Sept. 30, 2025.

Port Canaveral had a record 8,602,047 passenger movements, making it No. 1.

The only other time that has happened was in the rebuilding year after the COVID pandemic, when Port Canaveral for fiscal 2022 had 4,071,891 passenger movements compared to PortMiami’s 4 million.

“We’ve got two great seaports in Florida, and we’re competitive with the number of passengers that are moving through our ports, and we’re very excited to be on par with Miami and Port Everglades isn’t far behind,” Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray said Tuesday after learning the news. “It’s a great testament to cruising and what we do in the great state of Florida.” read more
