Five restaurants and one food truck in Central Florida shut down following health inspections the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Antojitos Chapin at 454 W. Main St. Vin #6308 in Apopka initially shut down on Sept. 27 with nine violations. On Sept. 30, officials issued an emergency callback time extension on the food truck. They found one violation, but it wasn’t a high priority. The truck requires a follow-up inspection but has since reopened.

Seminole

Tijuana Flats Burrito Co. at 2401 W. S.R. 434 Suite #117 in Longwood shut down on Sept. 30. Inspectors found eight violations, two of which were a high priority for roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection the same day found only one violation. On Oct. 1, a third and final inspection took place. There were six violations but none was a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.

Zippoz Pizza at 3950 S. U.S. Highway 17-92 Unit 1024 in Casselberry shut down on Oct. 3. Inspectors found four violations, one of which was a high priority for roach activity. A Florida-based property insurer that was recently eliminating coverage for non-weather-related water damage from policies taken out of state-run Citizens Property Insurance Corp. has told agents and executives of Citizens that it will provide limited water damage coverage in planned takeouts in October and November.

In a phone call with a Citizens executive last week and in emails sent to insurance agents on Monday, Tampa-based Slide Insurance said that it would provide up to $10,000 in water damage coverage when renewing policies covering homes over 40 years old.

Monarch National Insurance also told the Citizens executive that it too would provide non-weather water coverage to takeout customers this fall. It’s unclear whether the company provided the coverage during earlier takeouts.

On Monday, Slide sent an email to insurance agents with links to “updated and revised talking points specifically tailored for” its October and November takeouts. Links in the email take users to a coverage worksheet stating that limited water damage coverage is provided for all dwellings, regardless of age. read more
