Three Central Florida restaurants temporarily shut down after health inspections
Three Central Florida restaurants shut down the week of Dec. 3-9, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Orange
Bakewell Food Court at 6427 Old Winter Garden Road Unit 103 in Orlando shut down on Dec. 8 with 17 violations, three of which were deemed high priority.
Those were live roaches found at the pizza station, improperly stored chemical cleaning products and raw shell eggs and raw fish stored over unwashed vegetables in the walk-in cooler.
The restaurant remains closed pending a follow-up inspection.
Mr. Quick Restaurant at 5615 W. Colonial Dr. in Orlando shut down on Dec. 7 after inspectors found 10 violations including four that were high priority.
Those include inspectors finding rodent droppings on the front service counter, coleslaw found that had been prepared more than seven days prior, and dish machine chlorine sanitizer not at the proper minimum strength.
Inspectors returned the same day and still found nine violations, but gave time extensions on the high priority violations saying the establishment met inspection standards allowing it to reopen.
Osceola
Caney Restaurant at 4636 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee shut down on Dec. 6.
Officials found 16 violations, three of which were a high priority.
Those violations included food and ice received from an unapproved source, raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food and rodent activity.
Inspectors revisited the restaurant on Dec. 7. They found six violations, but none were a high priority.
A follow-up inspection is required, but violations were not an immediate threat to the public, and the restaurant was allowed to reopen.
Complaints and warnings
Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 41.
Osceola had 25, Volusia had 15, Brevard had 15, Lake had 11 and Seminole had 10. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
