7 Central Florida restaurants shut down last week after failed inspections
Seven Central Florida restaurants shut down the week of March 24-30, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Orange
Hon Lee LLC at 18 N. Dollins Ave. K14/15 in Orlando shut down on March 25. Inspectors found 10 violations, two of which were high priority for roach activity and raw animal food stored in the same container as ready-to-eat food. The restaurant remained closed on March 26 and 27 before officials conducted a final inspection on March 28. They found zero violations as the restaurant complied with the emergency callback order.
Martin Marietta Info Systems at 100 Global Innovation Circle in Orlando shut down on March 25. Inspectors found nine violations, two of which were high priority for raw food not separated from each other and rodent activity. A second inspection took place on March 26. Officials found zero violations as the restaurant complied with the emergency order.
DoubleTree Downtown Orlando – Restaurant and DoubleTree Downtown Orlando Banquets – 2nd Floor are both located at 60 Ivanhoe Blvd. in Orlando. The first restaurant closed on March 27 with eight violations, two of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity and raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food. A second inspection took place on March 28. Only one violation, a high priority, was found but it was corrected on site. The restaurant met inspection standards.
The second floor was shut down on March 27 due to two violations, one of which was a high priority for rodent activity. A second visit on March 28 did not result in violations, as the restaurant fully complied with the emergency order.
Brevard
Shore Lanes #2 & City Limits Lounge at 851 S. Dairy Road in Melbourne shut down on March 27. Inspectors found seven violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included flying insects, roach activity and roach excrement. Officials conducted a follow-up visit on March 28. They found two violations, one of which was a high priority for a spray hose at the mop sink being lower than the flood rim of the sink. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Seminole
Aladdin’s Cafe at 1015 State Road 436 Suite #141 in Casselberry shut down on March 28. Inspectors found 15 violations, two of which were a high priority for rodent activity and the wrong length for a spray hose. A second inspection on March 29 found 11 violations. Officials issued a time extension for the issue with the spray hose. The restaurant met inspection standards.
3-6-9 Restaurant at 1425 Tuskawilla Road Suite #161 in Winter Springs shut down on March 27. Inspectors found 22 violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included raw food stored next to unwashed produce, raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. A second inspection took place on March 28. Officials found 16 violations, but none were a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Complaints and warnings
Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 39.
Volusia County had 19, Osceola had 15, Seminole and Brevard had 13 each and Lake County had five. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
