Horror Nights: ‘Quiet Place’ films set for haunted-house silent treatment

Shut up! Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights event will include a haunted house based on the two “A Quiet Place” films, the company announced Thursday.

The movies, directed by John Krasinski, follow a family who must remain completely silent to avoid sightless extraterrestrials with extremely keen senses of hearing. The HHN houses, available at the Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood, California, “will embrace unique sound design, special effects and the adept performances of the scareactors to convey the ominous sense of dread depicted in the films,” a news release from Universal said.

In an HHN first, the houses will also utilize American Sign Language as part of the storyline.

“A Quiet Place,” starring Emily Blunt and Krasinski, was released in 2018. The couple, married in real life, also were in “A Quiet Place Part II” in 2020. “A Quiet Place: Day One,” a prequel, is set to be released this month, while “A Quiet Place Part III” is scheduled to be in theaters in 2025.

Universal: Epic Universe preview center opens in June

The Quiet Place HHN house will include scenes with the family’s farmhouse and the root cellar where Blunt’s character goes to give birth, Universal said.

Halloween Horror Nights: Universal planning triplets-themed house

This is the first movie-related maze identified for this year’s Horror Nights. Universal previously shared six of the haunted houses for 2024: Slaughter Sinema 2, Goblin’s Feast, Major Sweets Candy Factory, The Museum: Deadly Exhibit, Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America and Triplets of Terror. The Orlando event will have 10 houses and five scare zones.

Halloween Horror Nights is an after-hours, extra-ticket event held on 48 select nights between Aug. 30 and Nov. 3. Single-night tickets are now on sale for HHN33 in Orlando. For the first time, Universal Studios Florida is hosting a Premium Scream Night on the eve before the main event starts.
