Great Scott Farms corn maze to feature space exploration theme

This theme for a Lake County corn maze has been revealed. Great Scott Farms will salute space exploration in its cut-out field during its fall festival that starts Sept. 30.

Great Scott Farms — previously known as Scott’s Maze Adventures at Long & Scott Farms — cuts an elaborate higher-than-your-head puzzle across 6.5 acres for the event. The overhead design of the maze includes stars, Saturn and a satellite. Maze challengers find clues scattered in the stalks to find their way out, and there are helpers prepared to assist the hopelessly lost.

Other fall activities at the Mount Dora farm, which turned 60 years old this year, include a pumpkin patch, hay rides, castle playground, jumping pillow, super slide, farm tours and a half-acre mini corn maze. Food will be for sale, and a produce market also operates on-site.

The festivities are held Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are night maze admission, good for 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on select evenings.  Among the theme nights are Noche Latina (Oct. 14), Country Night (Oct. 21), Halloween (with family-friendly costumes permitted, on Oct. 28) and Glow Night (Nov. 4).
