Orlando Sentinel’s GrowthSpotter recognized with 5th EPPY award
GrowthSpotter, an Orlando Sentinel business website, has been honored for the fifth time in the national EPPY Awards.
The premium subscription service won for best business/finance website with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. The annual EPPY Awards honoring online and digital journalism are presented by Editor & Publisher magazine. GrowthSpotter was previously recognized in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021.
“GrowthSpotter has stayed true to its mission of covering — and uncovering — early-stage development since we founded it in 2015,” said Orlando Sentinel editor-in-chief Julie Anderson. “The staff prides itself on scoops. The only thing that has changed is our reporters have followed the growth to the outer rings of Orlando, including Polk, Lake, Osceola and Volusia counties.”
GrowthSpotter editor Laura Kinsler, staff writer Dustin Wyatt, and four freelance writers cover development with online articles and a weekday newsletter for subscribers.
“For GrowthSpotter to take home its fifth EPPY award demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence that started with our launch in 2015 and has never wavered,” Kinsler said. “We are beyond proud to be recognized for our work.”
Kinsler said the website was redesigned this year to improve the search functionality and includes new features, such as a list of each day’s 10 most-read stories.
“Our readers have embraced the new website design, and we’ve already seen a 20% increase in paid subscribers this year,” she said.
