Emergency shutdowns of 6 Central Florida restaurants ordered last week
Six Central Florida restaurants shut down the week of Jan. 7-13, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Orange
Charley’s Philly Steaks #1104 at 8200 Vineland Ave. in Orlando shut down on Feb. 12. Inspectors found four violations, one of which was a high priority for roach activity.
A second inspection on Feb. 14 found no violations.
The emergency order was complied with.
Artisan’s Table at 55 W. Church St. Unit 128 in Orlando shut down on Feb. 13. Inspectors found 17 violations, four of which were a high priority.
Those violations included an improperly stored toxic substance, a missing vacuum breaker, flying insects and raw food not separated from each other in a holding unit.
Officials revisited the restaurant on Feb. 14. Inspectors found three violations. They issued a time extension for the missing vacuum breaker.
The restaurant met inspection standards.
Mama’s Cheese Steak at 629 N. Westmoreland Dr. in Orlando shut down on Feb. 14. Inspectors found 14 violations, three of which were a high priority.
Those violations included rodent activity, flying insects and food held at the wrong temperatures.
Another inspection on Feb. 15 found seven violations, with three as a high priority.
A third and final inspection took place on Feb. 16. Inspectors found two violations and issued a time extension for food held at the wrong temperatures.
The restaurant met inspection standards.
iCafe de Paris at 8465 International Dr. in Orlando shut down on Feb. 16. Inspectors found 17 violations, three of which were a high priority.
Those violations included shell eggs in use being stored with cracked or broken shells, employees not changing single-use gloves and flying insects in several areas in the restaurant.
A second visit took place on Feb. 17.
Inspectors found nine violations, but none were a high priority.
The restaurant met inspection standards.
Osceola
Great Wok at 2605 Simpson Road in Kissimmee shut down on Feb. 13. Inspectors found 10 violations, two of which were a high priority for roach activity and raw food stored with ready-to-eat freezer food.
Officials revisited the restaurant on Feb. 16. They found three violations and issued a time extension for a repeat violation of raw food being stored with ready-to-eat food.
The restaurant met inspection standards.
Lake
Ichiban Buffet at 10301 U.S. Highway 441 in Leesburg shut down on Feb. 16 after a warning on Feb. 9. Inspectors found 36 violations, nine of which were a high priority.
Those violations included an employee washing their hands with cold water, selling food in the presence of an imminent health hazard, single-use gloves not being changed out and an improperly stored toxic substance.
A second inspection on the same day found six violations.
The restaurant met inspection standards.
Complaints and warnings
Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 43.
Volusia County was next with 29, while Brevard had 11, Seminole had 11, Osceola had three and Lake County had eight. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
