California almond growers grapple with uncertainty as new tariffs could hit exports

NEWMAN, Calif. (AP) — California almond growers are used to dealing with swings in the weather and water supply. Now they must also grapple with the uncertainty of trade battles as the Trump administration levies tariffs on goods from several countries and weighs adding more to the list.
Trump says he’s going to buy a Tesla as more Americans say they won’t
After one of the worst single day sell-offs in Tesla’s history, President Donald Trump threw his support behind his advisor, billionaire Elon Musk, vowing to buy one of his cars on Tuesday.
Tesla has been pummeled this year under competition from rival electric vehicles, particularly out of China, as well as his close association with Trump and with far right causes globally.
Shares have plummeted 45% in 2025 and on Monday tumbled more than 15% to $222.15, the lowest since late October, reflecting newfound pessimism as sales crater around the globe.
In an overnight post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Musk is “putting it on the line” to help the country. Trump claimed in the post that “Radical Left Lunatics” were attempting to “illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby.”
The stock climbed more than 3% before the market open on Tuesday.
Numerous auto industry analysts have attributed Tesla’s recent sagging stock — and auto sales — to Musk’s support of Trump and other far right candidates around the world. In recent days, Tesla showrooms in the U.S. have been besieged by protesters, its vehicles vandalized on the street. Tesla owners, perhaps in a bid to avoid being targeted, have placed bumper stickers on their cars with messages like, “I bought it before Elon went nuts.”
Universal: New online maps give bird’s-eye — or dragon’s-eye — view of Epic Universe’s layout
A friend was previewing Epic Universe recently and sent a text that read “I really should have studied.” He knew details about the theme park and its rides but had not really absorbed its layout and how it all came together.
For the first time in decades, there will be a new Orlando theme park to explore and maybe get a little lost in. There’s a new way to study before going. Universal Orlando has added digital maps for Epic on its official app and website done in that cartoonish architectural style common in park guides and portrayed basically from a bird’s-eye view or flying dragon POV.
For orientation purposes, back on the ground, you’ll enter Epic from the parking lot at the bottom of the map and once past the entrance, you’re in the Celestial Park section. It’s a Port of Entry/Main Street sort of deal although it features more than shopping. From this hub, there are four portals leading to the themed lands.
So, standing with your back to the entrance, from left to right are Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Straight ahead, dividing those four sections into two halves is the domed Helios Grand, a 500-room hotel with its own dedicated Epic entrance.
